As I am a singer/songwriter and teacher; my hopes are to employ music in the classroom as a means to teach core subject areas to elementary aged children in the general education classroom. But, while reach for that point, I shall crating a collection of activities and resources for both practical classroom use as well as ancillary knowledge. Lit circle notes
The more you give to the process the more you will get out of it!!
1. Always start with the summarizer
2. Respect the ideas of each member—disagree with the idea and not the person
3. This is a process, the more it is done the better you will become at the process.
Summarizer: the summarizer always starts. This person tells the main ideal, who, what, why, when and where, problems and resolutions that occur.
Discussion Director: this person asks under the surface questions and open ended questions. It is this person’s job to get the opinions and reactions that create a long lasting discussion.
Connector: makes connection between the literature and real experiences. In addition, the connector also points out similarities or ironies between pieces of literature.
Vocab Enricher: this person keeps track of new, interesting, exciting, unusual, puzzling words. This person writes synonyms antonyms. This person can also make word searches and crossword puzzle activities for the group. This person is responsible for writing words in sentences and quizzing group members on vocabulary.
Character Captain: this person looks for adjectives to describe characters and their motives.
